They have moved just a bit down the road to a smaller footprint and today was the”pre-opening” for their customers that provided contact information for their new sales system.
That was me! So, on my way to visit my mother in Louisiana this past weekend, I stopped in to see how the move into their new shop was coming along.
I just love it!
Done withe piecing the top. Next is layering.
Looking at the pattern for Hugs and Kisses, the outer pieced border was done with all O’s, and an optical illusion effect made the X’s. Also, the design called for each O to be constructed with two different fabrics except for the corners.
See it here
I tried that on the design wall and it just didn’t grab me.
I much preferred the corners as O’s with the center of the strip done in X’s.
I am now sewing each X block, starting at the bottom and have completed the bottom center and two bottom corners.
This weekend, my daughter and I bought more pirate fabric to make pillowcases to match the pirate Apple Core quilt for T-Loosh. I also got some Christmas yardage on sale 90% off.
Washing and ironing yards and yards of fabric is definitely a labor of love.
Also on sale was this bird panel. I got three panels–perfect for a future chenille quilt.
Looking the reviews of chenille cutters online has me convinced they are much better day scissors. I will also need to put the walking foot on my featherweight sew the rows.
This doubled blanket is a “no sew” project for Siobaun. The fleece was on sale.
Aunt Sadie sure knows how to keep her niece busy!
Today, I cut off the tips of the X and O blocks and ironed the seams toward the dark.
I started off with a stack of these.
Cut between the seams.
Then ironed. Voila!
Next, they will go up on the design wall. Each X or O takes four of these units.
Here she is. My granddaughter, Siobaun, age 12. The next generation of quilters is on the machine. She is making a pillowcase at her Aunt Sadie’s house.
